GT Cars Series – Lamborghini Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo
The GTC class of the 2019 China GT Championship has become a battleground for premium European marques. The Italians have established a strong contingent of Lamborghini Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeos to take on their rivals Porsche and Radical. In the last season, the Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo’s fierce performance even turned heads in the GT3 class.
The Lamborghini Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo was developed in collaboration with Dallara Engineering with the direct involvement of the founder Gian Paolo Dallara. The Lamborghini Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo debuted in all three series (Europe, Asia and North America) of the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, marking a new benchmark for the race series.
Power
The new Huracán Super Trofeo adopts the 5.2L V10 direct injection engine mounted on the road car, but its maximum output power is closer to 620 HP and its peak torque has been raised to 570 N·m, making it the most powerful model in the GTC class. Unlike the four-drive Huracan LP610-4 Coupe, all the power of Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo passes through the 2WD six-gear sequential gearbox by X-Trac to the rear wheels.
Lightweight design
The Lamborghini Huracan 620-2 Super Trofeo was also developed to make it even lighter than before. The bodywork is made of composite materials, making the dry weight of the Huracán Super Trofeo only 1,270 kg – 70 kg lighter than the previous generation of Gallardo Super Trofeos. More balanced than before, the aerodynamics now benefit from a rear wing with ten different settings, front and rear diffusers, and adjustable front air intake ducts.
YC Racing’s Wang Tao and Huang Hsi Chan, as well as teammates Zhou Bihuang and Zheng Wancheng all chose to compete with the Italian powerhouse. It is clear that the Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo will be a force to be reckoned with in the GTC class throughout the rest of the season.
